4/19/10: Phillipians 2:12-18

Main Idea: Be Lights of the world

What I learned about God: God gives allows us to glorify Him

Summary: This is Paul's letter to the church in Philippi and this is just a part of the letter that tells the Philippians to just do everything without grumbling and being questioning. It says in the beginning of this passage that God gives us the will to do good. God shows us that if we don't bicker and question the actions in which we do, we will be blameless and innocent children of God compared to the rest of the world. We would be the lights of the dark world in which we live in.

Application: It's funny how Pastor Charlie and I were just talking about how annoying this blog is becoming on top of all the school work and fricking midterms coming up on top of what I have to do for mission training. This goes to show that I am ridiculously stressed and yet I still do these things. In my small group today at UCLA KCM, we went over this chapter of Philippians and how Paul is reiterating that we must be the lights of the world in that we are seen more through our actions than our words. As a big guy, most people can see me do things regardless of it being me praising God or me complaining about having to move tables or do homework. I shouldn't be the one who is known for complaining more about what he does than actually doing it, but be known for doing things with a pure heart. I feel that through this devotion, God has truly just taught me a true lesson in humility. I feel through all my pride, I think that I don't have to do these petty things but in reality if God came down from Heaven to die for our sins, the least I can do are petty odd jobs without complaining. I should be doing these errands with a full heart so that I may be glorifying God through all the things that I do. I need to be a better and brighter light in the world.
