Main Idea: Wisdom from God will make the speech of evil men and women seem alien to you

What I learned about God: The wisdom which emanates from God will differentiate itself from the world.

Summary: The person that is able to store up God's wisdom in his/her heart will gain various blessings from doing so. This proverb states that they will be shielded by God (7b), wisdom will come into their heart (10), will have greater discernment (11), and have a greater level of understanding (11). All of these for the person that is seeking out the wisdom which God provides. The ways which this wisdom guards a person is through the discernment of the schemes of evil men and women. The wise person is able to understand and notice both of their schemes in a way in which they can compare it to the revealed wisdom of God and know that the decrees or sayings of evil people are foolish.

Application: We talk about having "noonchi" for people; being able to read the situation or people. I always thought this was a good thing to have in mafia, but a bad thing because it can be somewhat judgmental on a person without giving him or her the benefit of the doubt. However, if one has the wisdom that comes from the Lord, they can discern the plots of the evil men and women. Now more than ever I see the need for leaders to really soak in the wisdom of God through prayer and through the Word, because there are plenty of people even in the church that can fall prey to foolishness. Heck, even I will fall prey to this very same thing too. That's why we must spend the time seeking the Lord in prayer and asking for His wisdom to reign. To apply this QT, I want to pray for wisdom with my leaders and directors every meeting that we have together; because we must understand our ministry will not work unless it's lead by God's wisdom.
