Main Idea: The Full Armor of God
What I Learned about God: God prepares us for battle against all odds
Summary: This is Paul's letter to the church of Ephesus and and before he concludes his letter, he mentions the armor of God. He lists each of the letters that we may understand each part of our faith is incorporated in protecting us from all forces of evil. He then explains how we are not fighting a physical battle against Satan, but it is a spiritual battle that is fought in heavenly places. Paul therefore explains how we can strengthen our armor of God through prayer and supplication in which we must stay alert in our lives and we must persevere against all odds. Paul then asks for the Ephesians prayers so that he may have the Holy Spirit speak through him and then Paul ends in a final greetings.
Application: Always having been infatuated with war and the spiritual battle above, I love reading Ephesians because it seems that God is suiting us (as Christians) to battle Satan, but now that I took the time to sit down and read this passage carefully, God does not prepare us for a physical battle against Satan, but instead it is a Spiritual battle in Heaven that is taking place each and every moment of our lives. To strengthen ourselves physically, men and women go to the gym and workout their muscles, but to be spiritually strong, we must persevere and be in prayer and supplication. We must never forget that once we are comfortable, we are abiding to the world and being comfortable in sin, and so we must persevere through all this and become more obedient and diligent in prayer and supplication of His Word.
