Main Idea: Living a life of wisdom is equated to living life by walking with God
What I Learned about God: He is the source and giver of wisdom
Summary: Chapter 3 issues the promises one gain from seeking a life of wisdom. This latter part of the Proverb focuses on the serenity gained in one's life through the practice of quiet integrity. These verses share with the reader that it is God alone that keeps their feet from stumbling (27). This marks the fact that the blessings found in these verses, such as; life, protection, and goods are all a result of the fact that God's blessings is upon you. The walk with God will lead towards wisdom.
Application: As I began my study through Proverbs, I wanted to write down "nuggets of truth" that would apply directly to my life. However, this fails to the main point of Proverbs: that it is the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of wisdom. In applying these principles, I must never lose track that my applications must be God-centered and God-driven if they are to become more than just "wise words". The blessings for following is not in following the principles, but rather it is following and walking with God. For my application, I will remember that my application must be God-centered!
