5/4/10: Matthew 10:1-13

Time Spent: 15 mins

Main Idea: True ministry requires God and only God

What I learned about God: We must trust in Him always

Summary: Jesus shows His 12 disciples in which He then tells them how to do their ministry. He goes into it by stating that they should only go to the Israelites in which are lost before they can go after the Gentiles and the Samaritans. He then goes onto saying how we must not receive anything in payment and how we shouldn't take anything either along in our ministry and how everything will be provided for us. How we should be thankful to the household that cares for us in our ministry.

Application:Reading the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus shows me in each of His disciples. He names them all and then goes on to say some of their professions. The tax collectors were the scums of the earth and yet Jesus still chose them to serve in His ministry. He then goes to exclaim how we must go to the lost sheep of Israel in which I felt that God was saying that in not only preparing for missions, but that my own home is a mission field in which I must pursue the lost sheep here. Then Jesus also says that we shouldn't take anything and how we should be the ones to accept the help of others and bless them in the name of the Jesus for helping us with our ministry. We should be the ones doing God's work in our lives in which I believe I can do more in my own life to go after those friends of mine that will be able to hear the gospel and then go after the ones that haven't heard the Gospel. I need to seek moe people in my own life before I can attest to people in which I have no personal relationship with overseas.
