Time Spent: 15 mins
Main Idea: Anger
What I learned about God: God only receives the pure heart's offering
Summary: This is Jesus' sermon on the mount and how He is speaking of the topic of anger. He is explaining the current law against murder, but He then explains in ways to the law that if you are angry at someone, you are murdering them. If you are insulting your brother, you must go to counsel and if you are cursing your brother, you are condemned to eternal death in hell's fires. Jesus then explains in the way that is most applicable to the Jews of the time in which if they are offering up to God an offering while mad at someone, they must go and reconcile before they offer up their offerings to God. God only deserves a pure heart in which there can be no sin in it.
Application: This passage spoke to me because this very morning I got into a heated argument and before I showered and got ready for church, I knew that I couldn't go to church with this hatred in my heard because then Satan will just manifest more out of that small seed of hatred within my own heart. I must go to church only offering God my full and honest praise in which there is no hatred within my heart. As I made up with my parents on MOTHERS DAY!, I finally got ready to go to church but God wouldn't allow me to without doing my daily QT and the passage that I looked up truly spoke to me. I feel God has morals for us in which we learn each and every day but since we forget these morals, we must keep on going back to the Word for daily reminder of how to be more God-like. In my life, I must be more patient and always to settle feuds within my own circumstances in which when I go to God, I must not go to Him with anything less than a pure heart devoted in serving Him.
