Time Spent: 15 mins
Main Idea: John the Baptist Prepares the way
What I learned about God: God has planned it all from before we were born
Summary: John the Baptist is introduced in the first Gospel written by Matthew. This shows John the Baptist and the conviction he had received from Scripture and God to prepare the way for Jesus. He then baptized them in the Jordan River and then he then exclaims of Jesus' great power and presence in that he can only baptize with water, but Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. John then attacks the Pharisees and Sadducees for being a brood of vipers in which they have lived a live as they stray away from God and the Word. He replies in that they must return back to the true meaning of God and live by His Word.
Application: John the Baptist is such a baller! its so ridiculous how amazing he is. John the Baptist lived on what God provided for Him and he was not greedy nor selfish but instead he was obedient and loving. He can be seen as a pioneer of evangelism in that he baptized people as the
people confessed their own sins. In my life, I don't need to follow a certain conduct of life in which ever tells me to but instead I must follow God's word because if I stray away from the Word, I will become proud and arrogant like the Pharisees and Sadducees in which I will become a viper. In my life, I must be able to go through all the distractions of life in order to accomplish whatever it is that I need to. Like this instant, I was tempted into going to watch Ironman 2 instead of finishing my missions homework and preparing for my day but instead I must stay on top of my priorities, and I must be doing the job in which God is preparing me to be anything in which He needs me to fulfill my duties for His kingdom.
