Main Idea: Adversity reveals character
What I Learned about God: God desires holistic transformation, not just when times are good.
Summary:
10 If you i faint in the day of adversity,
your strength is small.
This is 25 out of the 30 wise sayings listed in the past two chapters of Proverbs. It is in reference towards having days of trials and hardship. The ones who are not able to come out the other end has small strength. It does not matter what that person has done in life or how confident and strong he may appear to be, the great leveler of adversity will reveal the innermost of the person, whether for good or for bad. One must remember that the way they handle hard times is the way in which his character lines up.
Application: I am going through a rough patch where I am sick and got a ton of hw to do. I wish I could just fly away from these troubles and wonders why I had to get sick on this week : (. However, I must remember that even throughout this time, I need to stay faithful to God and to the work that I have to do. I cannot shrink from my responsibilities as a student and a pastor on the account of my sickness. I need strength from on high and when I am weak, just like it says in the Bible, I should be the strongest.
