5/5/10: Luke 10:30-37

Time Spent: 20 mins

Main Idea: The Good Samaritan

What I learned about God: God is so merciful

Summary: This is in the Gospel of Luke and it is when Jesus is telling the story of the good Samaritan. The story is about a man who is lain half dead in the middle of a road is not helped by a priest or a Levite, but instead a Samaritan who is looked down upon by Jews helped the half-dead man. The Samaritan poured wine and oil upon his wounds, put him onto his own animal and paid in full and beyond for his room and care for him. This showed the Samaritan's compassion and love for a man that he didn't even know. This ends with Jesus showing the one of the most important commandments, love your neighbor as yourself.

Application: God shows through this story in that love is just how you can represent yourself. God's love is represented when we show love to others. This goes on to show that in our lives, we must show love unto everyone we see because if Jesus were a picky guy when He chose people to go to Heaven with Him, I don't know if He would have picked anyone of us because we are too sinful. Knowing God's love is the ultimant reward and in which we mustdo the same and just show our love unto everyone we meet and see.
