Proverbs 23:12-16 Wisdom Built Up

5/12/10

Time Spent: 15 min

Main Idea: Wisdom needs to be strived for with discipline and training.

What I Learned about God: Godly wisdom takes effort

Summary: The school of wisdom is not one that comes easy. The word for wisdom imparted is "musar", which means discipline and training. Discipline and wisdom does not come easy. It seems as though the parents are very firm and straightforward with the child in order to impart wisdom. This is seen through the use of discipline and "rod". Wisdom is not just gained through osmosis or through abstract, it is gained through discipline and through trials. This is the only way in which we can be imparted wisdom by God. In Hebrews, God states that He "disciplines the ones He loves". This further supports this verse because bad things still happen to CHristian and that's God's love for them. That God wants to refine them and make them greater in wisdom to God.

Application: Serving @ OMC has not been easy. I feel sometimes way too stretched along with the school work that I'm doing. However, I remember that God is stretching me not for punishment but because of His great love for me. Therefore, I need to remind myself in hard trials not to look towards the struggles, but rather to the work that is being done through the Holy Spirit by the trial. I used to recognize this when I journaled, which I have failed at doing. Tomorrow, I think I will journal and figure some stuff that's going on in my soul because of these trials.
